Frequently Asked Questions about GCQuad
How does GCQuad work?
The GCQuad uses four ultra-high-speed cameras to take up to 200 images of the golf ball within the first 30cm of ball flight. Taking the images from four different perspectives allows the GCQuad launch monitor to produce a 3D picture of the golf ball’s movement, while the high-resolution cameras allow the system to clearly see the dimple pattern of the golf ball. This is a vital component when trying to measure spin. The onboard computer will then compare each image to the next, and using a method called spherical correlation, it will measure how the dimple pattern is rotating throughout the image set. What does GCQuad measure?
By capturing thousands of images per second, building a virtual 3D model, and then analysing a multitude of data components, the GCQuad is able to create the most accurate and complete picture of your ball and club head performance – and deliver the results in real-time. To find out what we measure visit here.

How accurate is GCQuad?
The GCQuad uses a combination of infrared object tracking and high-speed, high-resolution camera-based technology to precisely measure every aspect of club head and ball launch performance. With an an internal accelerometer – which eliminates the need for any setup or manual calibration, and an onboard barometer that adjusts data to the local environment – no matter where you are, your data is always accurate.
Is GCQuad or TrackMan better?
Camera and radar launch monitors essentially use opposite methods to provide data with a major difference being where the launch monitors are positioned. Radar-based systems are positioned behind the golfer and have no direct view of the club face whereas camera-based systems are positioned slightly in front (towards the target) of the golfer at address. Camera-based launch monitors will take multiple images of the golf ball and process launch information through a ball-flight model to show the flight that the launch conditions would have caused. Radar-based launch monitors use radar to track the flight of the golf ball and then calculate the launch conditions that would have caused that flight. To learn more about the differences click here.
What launch monitor do tour pros use?
The GCQuad has established itself as the go-to launch monitor on the Tour, earning widespread acclaim among professionals, amateurs, and coaches alike. With it’s unparalleled accuracy and comprehensive data analysis, the GCQuad provides the game’s top golfers with valuable insights into their swing mechanics, ball flight, and club performance.
The Tour’s sweeping adoption of Foresight’s technology is testament to our exceptional quality and ability to enhance player development at golf’s highest level.
In an article with Golf.com, Foresight Sports Tour Rep, Mark Gerent sat down to discuss why the GCQuad has become the no.1 launch monitor in professional golf.
Is a GCQuad worth it?
A launch monitor is the only way to accurately provide feedback about the flight of the golf ball and the delivery of the golf club. For coaching, fitting, professional tours and for home users of all abilities, launch monitors are proving to be a vital asset to fully understand each aspect of a golfer’s game.
What is the difference between GC3 and GCQuad?
The GC3 and GCQuad are both built on the same advanced photometric technology with the main difference being that the GCQuad features an extra camera to provide more club data points. The GCQuad also features a larger hitting area and a slightly longer battery life. For a full comparison visit here.
