Game Changing Launch Monitors

Pioneers of optical ball flight analysis, Foresight Sports has changed the game with its award-winning line of GC launch monitors. Indoors or outdoors, from the PGA Tour to the home simulation studio, no other technology delivers the accuracy and reliability of our GC launch monitors.

WHAT IS A LAUNCH MONITOR?

A launch monitor is the most crucial part of any golf simulator. Launch monitors control whether the experience is representative of the real-world ball flight whilst indoors, by capturing launch data.

Depending on the model, a launch monitor can be used as part of a golf simulator or as a standalone system, recording performance data. Launch monitors are a key piece of technology, measuring the flight, shape, height and distance of the golf ball.

Some launch monitors are also capable of measuring the club-head during your swing. This provides comprehensive data to the player like Lie-Angle, face-to-path, swing-path and angle of attack to name but a few.

WANT PERFORMANCE DATA?

Our launch monitors use a combination of infrared object tracking and high-speed, high-resolution camera-based technology to precisely measure every aspect of club head and ball launch performance. Some key metrics below.

Slide The measurement of the golf ball’s velocity just after impact. Ball speed is the main component in generating distance. BALL SPEED Slide LAUNCH ANGLE The initial vertical angle of ascent relative to the ground plane measured in degrees. The launch angle, combined with ball spin and speed, will determine the ball’s carry and total distance. Slide AZIMUTH The initial horizontal angle relative to the target line. The azimuth, combined with side spin, will determine the final ball position range relative to the target line. Slide TOTAL SPIN The amount of total spin created around the tilt axis is expressed as total spin. This will determine the curve and lift of the shot. Slide SPIN-TILT-AXIS One of the most important pieces of data measured by our launch monitors is the spin-tilt axis. The spin-tilt axis is the axis that the golf ball rotates around to create shot curvature and lift.

Your Launch Monitor Questions Answered

What is a golf launch monitor?

A golf launch monitor is a piece of technology designed to measure the golf ball and in some cases the golf club, as accurately as possible. With many years of experience and advancement, launch monitors have become an integral part of almost every aspect of the industry, including fitting, coaching, gap testing, short game, putting, practice, and benchmarking. How does a golf launch monitor work?

Nearly all launch monitors will use either camera-based or doppler radar-based technology to measure the golf ball to try and determine ball launch conditions. Camera-based launch monitors will take multiple images of the golf ball and process launch information through a ball-flight model to show the flight that the launch conditions would have caused. Radar-based launch monitors use radar to track the flight of the golf ball and then calculate the launch conditions that would have caused that flight.

What is the difference between camera and radar launch monitors?

Camera and radar launch monitors essentially use opposite methods to provide data with a major difference being where the launch monitors are positioned. Radar-based systems are positioned behind the golfer and have no direct view of the club face whereas camera-based systems are positioned slightly in front (towards the target) of the golfer at address. Camera-based launch monitors will take multiple images of the golf ball and process launch information through a ball-flight model to show the flight that the launch conditions would have caused. Radar-based launch monitors use radar to track the flight of the golf ball and then calculate the launch conditions that would have caused that flight. How much is a launch monitor?

Our launch monitors start from A$13,995 GST included for the GC3. For pricing please visit our online shop.

What’s the difference between GCQuad, QuadMAX, GC3, and GC3S?
GCQuad

The industry’s gold standard. Quadrascopic (4-camera) imaging delivers the most complete ball + club data in golf. Trusted by tour players, fitters, and coaches worldwide.

QuadMAX

Built on GCQuad tech but with next-gen upgrades — touch screen, speed training, lighter weight, NFC, and customizable tiles. Perfect for advanced players who want more features and flexibility.

GC3

The most approachable pro-level option. Triscopic (3-camera) system gives tour-level accuracy at a more accessible price point. Portable, versatile, and ideal for home or range use.

GC3S

Everything the GC3 offers, but as a subscription-based model. Includes LINK-Enabled tech and Bushnell Golf Pro X3 Link rangefinder integration, making it the most affordable entry point into Foresight’s ecosystem.

How accurate are golf launch monitors?

Our launch monitors use ultra-high-speed cameras to take up to 200 images of the golf ball within the first 30cm of ball flight. This allows our launch monitors to produce a 3D picture of the golf ball’s movement, while the high-resolution cameras allow the system to clearly see the dimple pattern of the golf ball. This is a vital component when trying to measure spin. The onboard computer will then compare each image to the next, and using a method called spherical correlation, it will measure how the dimple pattern is rotating throughout the image set.

This process means our launch monitors are incredibly accurate at not only measuring the ball speed and launch angles (both horizontal and vertical), but also at providing a direct measurement of the spin rate and the spin axis.

Do the launch monitors require subscription?

Once purchased, our launch monitors requires no additional subscriptions or fees to use any of it’s features.
However, we now offer the GC3S, which is the same launch monitor but available through a subscription model. This option provides an affordable entry point with all the core performance data and software features you need. Click here to learn more.

How to practice with a launch monitor?

Many golfers spend hours of their time, and significant amounts of money, at driving ranges where they hit numerous golf balls with next-to-no feedback, and have no way to measure whether they are improving or not.

Using a launch monitor not only means you can practise at home (with a golf simulator), it also means that the golfer knows exactly how their actions are causing the ball to fly. Practising in this way allows players to improve far more quickly and ensure their time is used much more valuably. What launch monitors do tour pros use?

We do not provide free product to any Tour professionals. Even without paid partnerships, the GCQuad has established itself as the go-to launch monitor on the Tour, earning widespread acclaim among professionals, amateurs, and coaches alike. With it’s unparalleled accuracy and comprehensive data analysis, the GCQuad provides the game’s top golfers with valuable insights into their swing mechanics, ball flight, and club performance.

The Tour’s sweeping adoption of Foresight’s technology is testament to our exceptional quality and ability to enhance player development at golf’s highest level.

In an article with Golf.com, Foresight Sports Tour Rep, Mark Gerent sat down to discuss why the GCQuad has become the no.1 launch monitor in professional golf.

Is a launch monitor worth it?

A launch monitor is the only way to accurately provide feedback about the flight of the golf ball and the delivery of the golf club. For coaching, fitting, professional tours and for home users of all abilities, launch monitors are proving to be a vital asset to fully understand each aspect of a golfer’s game.

What data is produced by a launch monitor?

By capturing thousands of images per second, building a virtual 3D model, and then analysing a multitude of data components, our technology is able to create the most accurate and complete picture of your ball and club head performance – and deliver the results in real-time.
